MISSION STATEMENT:

Corner Kidz JOAD is a team consisting of archers, staff, coaches, parents and family.  We strive to create an atmosphere where sportsmanship, dedication, teamwork and fun come together to produce some of the world's finest archers.  We are committed to helping our kidz achieve their goals: to compete with integrity and sportsmanship; and to enrich their lives through competitive sport.

ABOUT ARCHERY AND OUR PROGRAM

Archery is an excellent sport for all types of kids.  Whether your child has always wanted to shoot a bow, his/her interest was fueled by recent movies depicting archery, or you are simply looking for something to get them away from the video game console, Corner Archery is here to help.  You don't need to have any experience with archery to get your kids involved.  Just call or come in and let us show you how much fun archery can be and how easy it is to get them started.

The Corner Kidz Junior Olympic Archery Development Program (JOAD) is a certified part of USA Archery that teaches archery to young people, provides great opportunities for awarding achievement, and helps archers to enjoy the sport recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition.  We have, in our ranks, State Champions, National Champions and Paralympian competitors.

FAQ:

Isn't archery just for hunters?  My child isn't interested in hunting.  While bow hunting is very popular, especially in Arizona, target archery is as well.  Arizona has dozens of tournaments each year and is even host to the Arizona Cup, one of the World Archery International Ranking Events

Is it expensive?  No, to start out, archery is very economical.  Corner Archery provides all the equipment your child needs to get started.  Once he/she develops their skills and decides which type of archery they are interested in, we can assist you in selection equipment to fit any budget.

Is there a long-term commitment?  No, Corner Archery requires no membership fee.  You pay for only the days you participate.  The JOAD program meets every Saturday but your child is not required to attend every week.  The more they participate, the faster their shills improve, however.  Membership with USA Archery is required after 3 classes or to move to more advanced classes.

Is it safe?  Yes!  Unlike contact sports like football, hockey, etc., archery is a non-contact sport.  There are no broken bones in archery.  Each JOAD session is supervised by trained and certified USA Archery NTS Coaches/Instructors under controlled conditions, using well-maintained equipment.

My Son/daughter has a disability.  Is this a problem?  Archery is one of the most inclusive sports there is.  Since 2006, we have trained kids with Muscular Dystrophy, Autism, ADD/ADHD/ Down Syndrome and Diabetes.  We even have a Level 4 Coach on staff who is a Para World Champion and 2 time Para Olympian.  For more information on archery for athletes with disabilities, check out Disabled Sports USA at http://www.disabledsportsusa.org/archery/
